Foundation Stage
Foundation Stage is a happy place where the children learn through play. We provide indoor and outdoor learning areas and pride ourselves on the smooth transition our children make from their pre-school groups. All our children have access to desktop computers in the classroom, as well as using the equipment in the schools main ICT room. The children also enjoy using the interactive whiteboard in the main classroom for their phonics and numeracy activities.
Year One

In Year 1 we have started the term looking at stories about familiar settings. One book was The Tiger Who Came to Tea. The children thought up new alternative book titles and wrote invitations, inviting friends to tea. In Science we have been studying a topic called Ourselves. They have made a collage body which they have labelled, and carried out fun investigations to test their five senses. The investigations included a popular lesson where they tested their sense of taste, tasting lemons, sugary sweets and crisps. During our initial numeracy lessons the children have been demonstrating their counting and ordering skills, using Counting Clown.
Year Two
We have a lovely year planned for Year 2 !Humanities will cover topics such as the Great Fire of London, Florence Nightingale and the history of the British seaside. It will also look at the Katie Morag series of stories as the children discover ‘An Island Home’. Science will have some fantastic topics such as electricity and forces. Across all the curriculum, children will have the opportunity to chose and independently use ICT to support their learning.
Year Three

Our Year 3’s are developing their writing skills across different genres and they are all producing superb work. Their favourite lessons are on story writing, and each child is writing their own book of short stories. Numeracy is building on the learning achieved in year 2 and the class enjoy the Friday lessons where they are learning different magic tricks based on mathematics. Humanities in Year 3 is very exciting. As well as learning about our local environment in geography, our history topics are taking the children back to the times of the Ancient Egyptians and the Romans. We came .... we saw ..... and we learned!
